About NewTen


NewTen provides Newton connectivity for Mac OS X. It allows you to install packages on a Newton MessagePad from a Mac OS X computer over a serial connection, without having to use any Classic applications.

At this time, NewTen supports package installation only, not backup/restore, etc.. NewTen does not currently support ethernet or infrared connections.
Compatibility

Mac OS X 10.1 or higher is required.

NewTen supports any USB serial adapter that installs a driver into Mac OS X's "/dev" directory, such as the KeySpan TwinSerial USA-28X. The built-in serial port on some Macs is also supported.

NewTen is based on UnixNPI by Richard C.I. Li, Chayim I. Kirshen, and Victor Rehorst.

NewTen's icon was created by John Schilling.

NewTen is provided under the GPL license, a copy of which is included in the archive. Briefly, it states that you may use the source code for whatever you like, but you must also release the source code to any derivative works you release that are based on it.
