NewtGreek 1.0 ReadMe! All items in the NewtGreek 1.0 Folder are copyright ©2003 P. Arthur and M. Kaprelian. All are available free of charge, and you may distribute them freely as long as all items in the folder are included in the distribution, or as long as the original compressed .sit or .zip files are distributed. The distribution of these materials must be free of charge. If you wish to include these files in a paid-membership website, or on a CD-ROM that is distributed with other materials for a fee, you must obtain our permission before distributing. Enough of the legal stuff . . . Enlosed in this package should be five items besides this readme text file: 1. NewtGreek.pkg This is the NewtGreek 1.0 font package. Install this onto your Newton using Newton Connection Utilities or any other Newton installer. The font will show up in your Extras drawer, under the "Extensions" tab. If you ever want to uninstall the font, this is where to delete it. 2. NGManual.pdf This is the PDF manual for the NewtGreek font. 3. NGManual.pkg This is a NewtonBook manual for the font, which can be downloaded onto your Newton. This way, you can have a handy reference with you on your Newt. This installs into your Extras drawer under the "Unfiled icons" tab. 4. greek.pkg This is a file to assist in installing NewtGreek onto a Newton running the older 1.x Newton operating systems. Details on how to use this are available at: http://www.digitalinkwell.net/newton/ngoldnewt.html 5. NewtGreek This is the Macintosh (Classic) version of the NewtGreek font. Place this in your "Fonts" folder, which is inside your Macintosh's "System Folder." The font should work on any Macintosh running any "classic" Macintosh system up to MacOS 9.2. It will also work in the "Classic" mode of all versions of Mac OS X. It will not work natively in Mac OS X because that system does not have any capacity to use bitmap fonts, unfortunately. The Newton version of NewtGreek and the Macintosh version of NewtGreek are exactly the same, and may be useful in transfering documents that use NewtGreek between Macintosh and Newton computers. We have also found the Macintosh version of the font useful for creating NewtonBooks that use the NewtGreek font.
